Week 6!
May 30, 2008 | 1 Comment
We’ve made it to week 6 of pregnancy! This week, the nose, mouth and ears are starting to take shape. In eight months, we’ll be kissing that little mouth and nose! I can’t wait! Right now, our baby is about a quarter of an inch long, or the size of a lentil bean!
I had my appointment yesterday and my numbers are still looking pretty good. My Beta is now at 19,735! My nurse was really happy with this number. My progesterone level dropped some from last week, so they’re having us raise the dose of progesterone Collin injects into me each night. It made me nervous that the progesterone level went down and when I asked my nurse, she said it can fluctuate, but they like to see it above 20. Right now, my level is 23.4, which is down from last week at 32.4.
Please continue to pray for the baby, that he or she (or they), continues to grow and be healthy. Please also pray that my progesterone level will rise and not lower to below 20. To be honest, I’m not sure what would happen if it did go below 20, but I really don’t think I want to find out.
Thank you, as always, for your continued prayer and support!

Sleepy and Nauseous and Hungry, oh my!

That’s pretty much how I’ve been feeling lately. Thankfully, I’ve been able to keep all my food down for the past few days (everyone, please knock on wood now!) and the nausea typically subsides by mid-morning. But, these are all signs that there’s a little baby growing inside of me and and I couldn’t be more excited.
Oh, I forgot to mention that I’m also weepy! Last night, Collin thought it would be fun to take some pregnant pictures of me. Even though I’m only 5 weeks along and I’m not supposed to be showing at all yet, the medication I’m on has me very bloated, so I look further along that I really am. So, I was all excited to take cute pictures and be like “look at my cute pregnant belly!”. Collin got the lighting just right and was very professional with his direction…”Ok, move your head this way, and put your arm here, and smile”. As soon as I saw the pictures, I burst into tears! Instead of seeing a cute, skinny pregnant lady, I saw a bloated, chubby one in her place. Poor Collin, he just doesn’t know what to do with me. I guess I need to come to grips with my body and embrace whatever shape I get, because my prayers are being answered and all I really care about is the health of our growing baby.
I have an appointment tomorrow for another Beta test and we’re really hoping and praying for more good results. Then, next week, we have an appointment for our first ultrasound! How exciting is that???
It’s so fun to be able to share our journey with everyone. Often, people tell us that they’re following our story and that makes us feel so good.
We’ll let you all know how the appointment goes tomorrow. Also, once we get a couple of pictures that I approve of, we’ll post those as well!

Latest Numbers…

Kyla had another appointment yesterday to have her blood drawn and the critical number came back great! Her Beta number is 2720, Progesterone 32.4 and Estrogen 1081! This is awesome news! The nurse said the numbers were “beautiful” and she believes that it’s still one strong growing baby!
We found out that our first Ultrasound appointment will be on June 5th at 10:15am. This will most definitely confirm how many babies are growing in there, since we’ll be able to hear the heart beat for the first time. Woo Hoo!
Kyla is feeling both good and bad this past week. If you don’t count the morning sickness, night sickness, sore phanny from all the shots, raging hormones and ever-growing body that she’s not happy about…she’s actually doing really great. Right Kyla? I know she’s not one to complain too much about all this, so I thought I would do some of that for her. :) We are both so overjoyed with the fact that this whole process worked and we got pregnant, that it overshadows the not so fun stuff that pregnancy brings. I just can’t imagine how it feels to have your body going through all these changes and not feeling like you have any control of your emotions. Kyla is handling all of this so amazing! Please continue to pray for her AND our growing baby!
Speaking of sore phannies…we found out that Kyla will need to have the ultra huge progesterone shots up until 11th week! Yikes, that’s another 6 weeks! The worst part about it is that the new dose of progesterone is a lot thicker than the medication we are currently giving. Poor phanny…poor, poor phanny!
Thanks again for all of your love, prayers and support! We’ll continue to keep you updated every step of the way.
If you bought a T-Shirt, please remember to send us your pictures in your shirts! We’d love to have each and every one of you up on or photos page!

4 Week Update
May 18, 2008 | 2 Comments
I had another appointment on Friday to test certain levels in my blood, to make sure the pregnancy is progressing as planned. My Beta level on Wednesday was 79.9 and on Friday it was 196…this is great news!
I was looking on the internet today to see what happens at 4 weeks of pregnancy, and it seems that our little baby is forming his or her eyes, arms and legs!!! Isn’t that the coolest thing ever?!?! It’s about 1.5 - 2.5 mm in size.
A lot of people are asking me how I’m feeling, and the answer is - GREAT! I’m pretty tired and a little barfy, but there’s a little baby growing inside of me and I couldn’t be more excited. Collin is being amazing, as usual. He’s being extra protective of me, letting me take lots of naps, whenever I can, and making sure I’m drinking plenty of water.
We have 8 more weeks until we get to the “safety zone” of being past the first trimester. We’re really praying for this baby to stay strong and to keep growing like it should. We know that we’re not out of the woods, so to speak, so we’re still asking for lots of prayer for our baby and for me.
I have another appointment this coming Thursday to test my Beta level again to make sure all of my numbers are rising, so we will definitely keep you posted.
Kyla
