1 down, 2 to go…

We’ve passed our first trimester and are about a week into our second. We are so excited to be past that point as the chance of miscarriage goes down dramatically. We had an appointment on Friday with our OB and everything is looking great. As you can see from the ultrasound picture, our little Baby is growing! The Baby appeared to be sleeping, and not moving around at all, other than a little leg movement. I’m hoping this kid doesn’t kick in it’s sleep like Mommy does!!! The heartbeat was at 150 this time. Our OB explained that as the baby gets bigger, the heart rate gets slower, so this is a good rate for 14 weeks.
Collin and I went shopping this weekend and bought the crib and dresser for the nursery. We had to buy early, because the crib we wanted is on back order and will take up to 12 weeks to be delivered. The crib we bought is really cool because the front folds down quite a bit which will give Collin great access to the Baby. We looked around a lot, as we wanted to find something that would be accessible for Collin. Almost all the cribs we looked at would have been too high, but this one is just perfect.
I had a great birthday weekend, I am so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends. I am incredibly thankful for all that God has given me, including my wish to be pregnant by my 30th birthday.
Love and hugs to all,
Kyla
Thirty?????

Today is Kyla’s 30th Birthday!!! The one thing she has always mentioned is that she wanted to be pregnant before she turned 30. We did that for sure. Woo Hoo!
We’ve had a fun week so far, filled with a surprise concert I took Kyla to on Wednesday, a couple of trips to the fair, an OB appointment on Friday and a pool party planned for today at my parents house.
Please take a moment to wish her a happy birthday.
We’ll update you with some more details and pictures tomorrow!
1st Appt at Kaiser

Our appointment at Kaiser yesterday went really well. We met with a midwife/nurse practitioner who was really great. They drew lots of blood (6 vials!), did an exam and an ultrasound. On the ultrasound, our baby was waving at us, and we could even see it moving it’s mouth! It was so cool to see. The midwife/NP said that at the 12th week, they want to be able to see and hear the heartbeat through a normal ultrasound and to make sure the heart is beating fast enough. Our baby’s heartbeat was 160/minute which she said is great.
Unfortunately, the ultrasound machine wasn’t working properly, so they weren’t able to print us a picture. We were really bummed, but at least we have other ultrasound pictures to share. I think we’ve been lucky to have had 4 ultrasounds in the first 12 weeks!
We also got to choose our OBGYN, who I saw back in February 2007, when I first started having problems. I only saw her once, but I liked her immediately, so we’re really excited to have her as our doctor.
I’m happy to report that 99% of my morning, noon and night sickness is gone! Now, I’m just hungry ALL THE TIME. I’m trying to choose my food wisely, but if you know me at all, you know that choosing carrots over chocolate is not an easy task for me. I’m praying that God will make me suddenly love veggies. He’s all powerful, He could do that, right???
Our next appointment is not for another month, so there may not be much to report in the meantime, but we’ll see what we can come up with.
As always, thank you so much for your prayers, love and support!
No more shots!!!

Since April 8, Collin has been injecting various medications into me daily. It’s now July 5, and we are about 10 minutes away from administering my last Progesterone shot. That’s 89 days of shots, and some days we had to do shots in the morning and the evening! We can hardly believe that we’re this far into the pregnancy (11 weeks and 3 days) and we’re to the point of stopping all medication. We really feel blessed to have come so far without any complications. Of course, my rear is also very grateful and is happy to be rid of the bruises and welts. Collin took me out to dinner tonight to celebrate. We went to one of my favorite places, Koji’s Japanese shabu shabu, but of course, no sushi for me!
We have our first appointment with Kaiser on Monday morning and we’re looking forward to it. I’m sure it will be a pretty standard first time pregnancy appointment, except for the fact that we got pregnant through IVF.
We’ll write more on Monday and let you know how our appointment went. In the meantime, we ask that you will continue to pray for health of our growing baby.
Kyla
