Yoga Baby

This past weekend, we went to have a 3D ultrasound done. Our parents also joined us, since the place we went to has a big flat screen and couches for family members. We were all so excited, and Collin and I couldn’t wait to get a better view of our daughter. Well, apparently she had other ideas, and instead wanted to show off her flexibility! She was holding her legs over her face the entire time so we could barely get a glimpse. She looked like she was in some sort of yoga pose. We tried to move her around a bit in the hopes that she might change positions, but no such luck. The ultrasound technician said we could come back some time this week and try again. We’re planning on returning on Thursday and we’ve been talking to her all week, kindly urging her to show her pretty face!
Tonight we have our first birthing, or Lamaze, class. It’s every Tuesday for 5 weeks. We’re already praciticing our “hee hee hooooooo’s”. They told us to bring pillows and a towel since everyone is on the ground. Clearly, Collin will not be getting on the ground, so we’re going to take a stool for me to sit on in front of Collin and hope that the instructor will be able to work with us. Should be an interesting evening! We’ll keep you posted…
I am now officially in my third trimester with 82 days until our due date, but who’s counting!?!?
Stay tuned for Lamaze and 3D ultrasound updates.
Love and hugs to you all,
Kyla
Elyana is her name…

As you can see from the front page and this picture, we’ve decided to name our daughter Elyana. We searched high and low for the perfect name, and we both loved this name from the first time we heard/saw it. The meaning in Hebrew is “God has answered” or “Answered Prayer”. All through our IVF cycle, we prayed for God to bless us with a child, and He is certainly answering our prayers! We’re still working on a middle name, so we’ll keep you posted on that. Maybe we should have a contest…send in your middle name ideas and you get a prize if we choose your idea. The prize may be no more than a scoop of ice cream (which we have a plethora of in our freezer at the moment!), but it’s still a prize!!!
I am now in my final week of the 2nd trimester. I cannot believe that we are so close to having a baby! Only 3 more months. Some days, I feel like I’ve been pregnant forever, and other days it seems like we just got the news yesterday. I’ve been feeling as well as can be expected. As you can see from Collin’s picture of me painting, my little sausage fingers have gotten a bit more plump! I’m also experiencing the beginnings of cankles, which is just such a pretty sight! I put my feet up as often as I can, so it’s not terrible, but by the end of the day, it’s pretty funny.
We registered at Baby’s R Us a couple of weeks ago and that was hilarious! Imagine Collin and me standing there with the little scanner gun looking at hundreds of pacifiers, bottles, car seats, bath tubs, etc. Maybe not hundreds of each, but you get the picture. We felt so stupid, standing there, thinking, “what kind of pacifier is the best? is this bath a good one? how do I know if she’s going to like this kind of swing?”. I guess all new parents go through this, but I didn’t expect it to be so overwhelming. Thankfully, we have wonderful family and friends who have called or received phone calls that have helped us through it (Thank you Jenny, Liz and Donna!!!). Needless to say, we’ve spent hours on the internet researching diaper pails and strollers. Thankfully, people become parents every day, and I haven’t heard a single news report of a baby being forever damaged because it’s parents might not have chosen the best play mat or high chair!
Our lives seem so busy now, but that’s all about to change in a few short months. Our lives will be forever changed by this incredible blessing and answer to prayer. We love you and can’t wait to meet you, Elyana!
Time goes by…

We’re really sorry for not posting any updates in a while. It’s amazing how fast the time is going by these days.
We’ve been spending quite a bit of time painting in the Nursery and it is starting to look really great! We took on a project that is a little larger than we expected, but we are having fun spending time together getting the room ready for our little girl.
I don’t think either of us would ever make it as a professional painter. You see…we decided to paint stripes on one wall. A 4″ tan stripe, then a 1″ white stripe, then a 10″ pink stripe…and so on and so on. Originally, we thought the pink stripes would be 8 inches wide, so we laid down a coat of white paint in the areas (not the whole wall) of where we thought the 1″ white stripes would fall. Of course, we then decided to make the pink stripes 10 inches wide, so all of our white paint was way off. Yikes…and we’re going to be raising a child???
Anyway, we had all the stripes painted and it looked AMAZING until we pulled all the 1″ painters tape off to expose our white lines. Well, as you would guess, the tan and pink paint leaked through some of the tape so our lines are not quite perfect. As you can see in the picture, Kyla’s been spending a lot of hours touching up the white lines with her little paint brush to get the lines straight and look good again.
We’ve since painted one of the other walls all pink and the opposite wall a deep chocolate brown. Our plan going forward is to paint some hot pink, brown and white circles on the striped wall. I know, I know…it probably sounds confusing but it’s going to look really cool when we are done. I’ll try to post some pictures of our progress.
Everything else is going pretty well. I’ve been spending a lot of time on my photography and I’ve also picked up a couple of extra web development jobs that has been keeping me busy too. I’ll let Kyla fill you in on how she’s doing in the next blog.
I hope you are all doing well.
Take care and God Bless!
