Elyana’s Nursery
November 30, 2008 | 2 Comments
So….here it is, in all of it’s pink and brown glory! We still have some finishing touches to add (pictures, shelves, etc.), but for the most part, Elyana’s nursery is complete.
We started working on the room in the middle of September, and it’s been a long 2 1/2 months! Collin and I both put a ton of work into this room, and we’re really proud of the outcome. Stubborn me wanted to do the entire room by ourselves, just to be able to say that we did all of this for our daughter. Finally, a couple of weeks ago, as I started to really slow down, we recruited Collin’s dad, Terry, to help with some of the finishing touches. He was a huge help and if it weren’t for him, I’d probably be up on the ladder right now trying to touch up the edges! Thank you, Terry!
Hopefully, Elyana will be able to enjoy this room for a lot of years. We love her so much and can’t wait to spend many sleepless nights with her in her new nursery.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our family and friends! We just got home from Collin’s cousin’s house, and had a delicious meal and got to spend time with a lot of family that we don’t get to see nearly as often as we’d like.
Last Sunday, I had to take another glucose resistance test, being that I’m in the 3rd trimester. On Monday morning, I received a call from my doctor telling me that I do, indeed, have gestational diabetes. Oh joy, and right before the holidays (God sure does have a sense of humor)! On Thursday, Collin and I attended a class where we learned how to test my blood sugar, which I do four times a day, and all about my new diet. I basically have to cut way back on carbs and sugar. Two of my favorite things. I also need to eat more fruits and vegetables. Two of my not-so favorite things. This past week has been a learning experience and full of change. You will all be very proud to know that I’ve stuck to the diet considerably well and my blood sugar is staying where it needs to. My new best friend is V8 Juice, and I have at least one banana a day…I’ve come a long way, baby! While it’s not been fun, it is well worth it to know that I’m protecting Elyana and keeping her healthy. I would do anything for this baby girl, and that includes forgoing traditional pumpkin pie in favor of a sugar-free, mostly fat-free pumpkin pudding pie (which, I might add, is very tasty - thanks for the recipe, Jenny!)
Collin, of course, has been incredibly supportive, cheering me on when my blood sugar level is good, and helping me figure out what went wrong when it’s too high. Have I ever said what an amazing husband I have?
So, on this Thanksgiving, Collin and I are extremely thankful for so many things. Our health, our family, our friends, our faith and salvation, our home, our jobs, laughter, and of course, Elyana Isabelle who is just about 7 weeks away from joining us in this world.
We love you all and hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Saftey Testing…
November 25, 2008 | 3 Comments
As you can see, I was doing a thorough safety test/trial run on our new stroller that my parents gave us at our recent baby shower. Speaking from recent experience, I can now see why children freak out in these strollers so much.
It took me a few minutes to calm down, but after I did I was able to fully test the stroller and deemed it safe for our daughter.
Yes…I believe I have too much time on my hands. Ha Ha
Enjoy!
Our First Baby Shower!

Well, we had our first Baby Shower yesterday. I was a Coed Bunco Shower, so I was able to join in the action. We had a lot of fun and are very blessed to have received so many great gifts and be surrounded by so many loved ones.
This picture is of one of my favorite gifts. It’s a onesie that reads, “Daddy’s wrapped around my finger”. Gotta love that, huh?
One of the funniest parts of our shower, was our niece Jocelyn asking Kyla a classic question…”Auntie Kyla, when are you going to take your baby shower???” We all got a good laugh out of that one.
Kyla is 30 weeks pregnant today and the countdown is at 7o days left until our due date. That seems like a long time away, but I’m sure it will creep up on us quicker that we think. Kyla is feeling as well as she can these days. She’s suffering from a lot of back pain, which our doctor says is completely normal, so we hope it just doesn’t get any worse.
We also have decided on a middle name for our little girl. We’re going to name her Elyana Isabelle Pollock. Thanks to our friend Mimi Perez and her suggestion of “Isabella” for a middle name…since she got the closest, we’ll give her 1/2 the prize for picking the middle name. :) ha ha!!!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! We’ll keep you posted on our progess through our Lamaze Class!
Take care and God Bless!
