So Close!!!

So, I’m now 37 weeks pregnant, and I look every bit of it!  I have a very distinct waddle and I know the location of every restroom in Orange County!

I’ve been off work for a week now, and the time has already flown by.  We had a great Christmas with our family and I think Elyana got more gifts than anyone!  She is certainly loved by many!  (The picture above is our two families on Christmas Day).

On Christmas Eve, I started having contractions, which totally freaked me out.  They weren’t huge or even very painful, but definitely contractions.  Since then, I’ve gotten used to having them, but they’re very infrequent and not nearly the “Holy Crap, this is it!!!” type of thing we’re waiting for.  Our lamaze class taught us “311″, which is contractions 3 minutes apart, each contraction lasting for 1 minute, consecutively for 1 hour.  When that happens, we have our “Holy Crap!!!” moment.

At my doctors appointment last week, I was not dilated at all, and I have another appointment tomorrow.  I also have an ultrasound scheduled on January 5 to tell the size and position of the baby.  With gestational diabetes, there is a chance that Elyana could be a large baby and would require a C-Section delivery.  We’re really hoping and praying that this is not the case, but we know that God is in control and as long as she’s born healthy with 10 fingers and 10 toes, we don’t really care how she gets here.

We will certainly keep you all as posted as possible.  We hope that you all have a fun and safe New Year’s Eve.  We are incredibly thankful for our family and friends and pray that 2009 brings many blessings to each of you.

My handsome husband had a birthday yesterday!  On Saturday night, we celebrated his birthday with family and friends at Johnny Rebs, which is where the above photo is from.  At Johnny Rebs, they make you kiss a pigs butt and make a wish.  We had a great time, and he got lots of great gifts.  His favorite gifts were from our nephews, Jeremiah and Josiah (4), who each made him a paper rocket!  It was so fun to see the boys watching with excitement as Uncle Collin opened their handmade gifts.   Yesterday, we celebrated by taking the day off and spending some quality time together.  My original plan was to take him to the Fullerton Arboretum to have a picnic and let him take pictures to his hearts content of all the beautiful foliage.  However, the terential downpour kept us from doing that.  So, instead, we saw a movie and I took him to one of our favorite restaurant’s, The Melting Pot.  We only go there for very special occasions, since it’s pretty pricey, but man is it good!  Despite the change in plans, we had a great day.  I am so incredibly blessed to have such a wonderful husband.  Collin is more than just a great husband, he is my best friend and my soul mate, and I am overjoyed to get to spend my life with him.  God is so good!
