Walk to Joe’s!

Walk to Joe’s!, originally uploaded by Full Circle Digital.

Anyone who lives in Southern California knows that it has been flippin’ HOT this past week.

Well, in our family, warm weather means an evening walk to our favorite local ice cream shop!

JOE’S!!!!!

After eating dinner on Tuesday night, we strapped Elyana in her stroller and made our way to get some tasty dessert! Elyana was smiling and cooing the whole way there as she looked up at the trees and all around.

Joe’s has some of the most amazing ice cream and especially their Italian Ice. They make something called a Joe Latte, which is cream vanilla soft serve, then a layer of your favorite Italian Ice, then topped off with another shot of soft serve. The photo above is of their Joe Latte with the Strawberries and Cream flavored ice. Woweee…this stuff is good!

On to the biggest news of the past couple of days. Tonight (Wednesday) when I got home from work Elyana decided she finally wanted to ROLL OVER! Yay Elyana! She rolled from her stomach to her back…TWICE!

She’s getting so big and cuter every day. She smiles all the time and is always trying to talk.

I hope you are all doing well. I know I keep promising that I’ll post more pictures. I’ve been taking a ton of photos and I’ll do my best to start adding some more soon.

Take care and God Bless you all.

3 Months Old!

Elyana is 3 months old (on Monday)! I find it hard to believe that three months and a day ago, she was inside of me, kicking away. She’s between 12.5 - 13 lbs, she holds her head up, and can sit up when propped up by something. She smiles all the time and knows who Mommy and Daddy are. She loves to sit on Collin’s lap and cuddle with him.

This is a picture that Collin took last week. Someone saw this and said that it looks like Elyana has lipstick on. It’s just drool, I promise. I’m not about to start putting makeup on my kid and entering her into pageants like those scary moms you see on TV. I may be crazy, but I’m not cruel! Can you tell I have a strong opinion about that one?!?!?
Sorry, I digress, I was telling you about the picture. Collin has been taking a ton of pictures lately and I must say, he’s quite talented. If anyone needs him to photograph your family, or kids or pet or even your favorite rose bush…he’s your guy. And no, he didn’t tell me to write that.

Elyana also went in the pool for the first time this past weekend. It’s been sweltering hot in Orange County, so we took advantage of Terry and Carolyn’s pool. Elyana loved being in the water. Hopefully we got some good pictures of that, which we will post soon.

Hope you all have a marvelous week!

T minus 22 days

Easter Girls, originally uploaded by IVF Mama.

I know that there are millions of working moms out there and soon I will be one of them. Not that I’m counting, but I go back to work in 22 days. I am really sad and to be honest, I feel like throwing a tantrum. However, because I am 30 years old, I will refrain from throwing myself on the floor, while screaming and flailing my arms and legs. I’m sure that would be quite a sight to see, though.

I love being with Elyana all day, every day. I never knew being a mom could be so much fun. When I go back to work, I’m afraid that I will miss the first time she crawls, or walks or talks. I’m afraid that she’ll forget who I am. I’m afraid that by the time we get home at the end of each day, it will be time for her to go to bed and I won’t get any quality time with her. Are these fears normal? Am I crazy?

I do feel incredibly fortunate that my in-laws are able to watch Elyana one day a week and that we have the best baby-sitter ever lined up to take care of her the rest of the week. I also get to take Fridays off for another couple of months, which will make going to back to work much easier.

So, for now, as I refrain from my tantrum, I will enjoy every single second that I get with my daughter. When we go to the grocery store, I will teach her to check every egg in the carton to make sure none are broken. I will teach her that the freshest items are at the back of the shelf, because the grocers want you to pick the oldest stuff first, so it’s OK to dig through the stuff at the front to get to the newest stuff at the back. And when we take walks during the day, I will point out the pretty flowers and show her the cloud that looks like an elephant. While I’m cleaning the house and doing laundry, I will take time out to sing and dance so that I can see her beautiful smile and hear her as she starts to laugh and giggle. I’m starting to sound like I’m about to die instead of go back to work, don’t I? I know it’s not the end of the world and that I will make it through this chapter in my life, with the grace of God.

PS. It’s 1:51 pm, and I’m still in my pajama’s…just one more thing I will miss when I go back to work!
