Collin and I have been trying to take Easter pictures of Elyana for a couple of days now. Normally, she is all smiles until Collin turns on the camera. It was no different yesterday when he started taking pictures. I found this cute hat and couldn’t wait to get some pictures of her in it, but of course, she’s got a mind of her own. We thought this one is so funny, because she looks so appalled us. “What are you making me wear?”, “Stop telling me to smile - I’m already cute with my double chins!”
Elyana is doing great. She’s been sleeping through the night for about a week and a half now. When I say sleeping through the night, I mean about 6 hours a time. This could be from 9:00pm to 3:00am, or it could be 11:00pm to 5:00am. I like the second one better, because when she goes to sleep at 9:00, I’m usually still up for a bit. But, I’m incredibly proud of her and so happy to say that I’ve been sleeping much more as a result.
Another big milestone is that we moved her into her own bedroom this past week. Prior to that, she was sleeping in a bassinet-type-thing next to our bed. Once she started sleeping much longer hours, we decided it was time to make the move. I was so nervous that she wouldn’t go to sleep or that she would cry and be afraid of her new surroundings, or that something would happen to her and I wouldn’t know it because she was so far away. The first night, I swaddled her up, and put her down, still awake. She looked around a bit and happily sucked her pacifier. I turned off the lights and left the room. 5 minutes later, I snuck back in to make sure she was still breathing (yes, I’m paranoid like that). She was already in a deep sleep. She slept for 6 and a half hours straight that night. I crept in a couple of times while Collin was sleeping to make sure she was OK. I don’t think she ever even realized that she had a change of scenery!
We’re excited to celebrate her first Easter with our families. I’ve put together an Easter basket with all of our favorite candy. I figured since she can’t have candy yet, Collin and I will enjoy it all on her behalf. We’re such sacrificing parents!
Happy Easter to you all - HE IS RISEN!!!
