26!
April 29, 2008
That IS the magic number!
The doctor was able to pull out 26, yes TWENTY-SIX, eggs out of Kyla’s ovaries. The procedure started at 9am sharp and only took about 15 minutes, which was pretty surprising to both of us. I could hardly finish my coffee and they were taking me back to the recovery room. Kyla is in a considerable amount of pain right now, but she’s resting comfortably in bed and trying to sleep. She handled everything so wonderfully and even remembered my name when she was coming out of anesthesia.
“Collin” was her magic word to let the nurses know she was coming out of it alright.
We’ll know more tomorrow about the quality of the eggs and how many eggs they were able to fertilize with my sperm. They’ll also let us know if we’ll be putting the embryos back on Friday or Sunday. Apparently, if the eggs and eventual embryos are a very high quality, they’ll wait until Sunday to put them back so they are as mature as possible. If they turn out to be of lower quality, they’ll want to get the embryos in their “natural environment” sooner which will be on Friday.
We both couldn’t be more excited right now. It’s crazy to think that right now there is someone in a lab creating our embryos!
Thank you all for your continued prayer. Please continue to pray for us over the next few days that our eggs and sperm will be matched up perfectly and create plenty of healthy embryos for us to use now and in the future.

Got something to say?

Feel better Kyla! We’re saying prayers for your comfort and for lots of healthy embryos!
How exciting!
Now that, my friends, is kick butt news. Prayer is awesome!
Oh, and one more thing. I just wanted to say what is on my heart and express how unbelievably happy I am for you guys; with all that is going on in the world, you both have found the strength and courage to overcome and overpower what “the world” tells most people. I’m just proud to be a part of it and can’t wait to see you!
