They grow so quickly…

As you can see from this ultrasound taken this past Thursday, our little baby is growing so quickly. You can clearly see arms and legs attached to a little body. It’s only about this size of a large grape, but it’s amazing that you can see this kind of detail at only 9 weeks of pregnancy! And, no, our baby is not holding a lollipop or playing tennis just yet! The object you see next to the baby is actually a yolk sac that provides nutrients to the baby for the first few weeks of pregnancy.
During this ultrasound, our baby was moving all over the place, and even doing a little shimmy! We were cracking up at how much it was moving around. Collin said something like, “Oh, look, our baby is going to be hyper like you!” At least we know it has some of my genes!
Even though the baby is the size of a grape, my uterus is now the size of a melon. As you can see from Collin’s previous post, my melon belly is quickly growing and making sure I have no intention of wearing any of my regular clothes much longer!
We have another appointment tomorrow, and this will possibly be our final appointment with Huntington Reproductive Center. The idea of moving on is both sad and exciting. I feel sad because I visit these awesome nurses and doctor every week and they’ve all brought us through this process with love and patience. It’s exciting, because that means that our pregnancy is at a point where our normal OBGYN can take over. Then, there’s jubilation because that means that our insurance will finally take over and we won’t have to pull out the American Express card for every visit! WOOHOO!!!! I suppose we’ll find out tomorrow if Dr. Potter is ready to release us, or if he needs to see us another time or two before letting us go. Even though I comment on the expense of our visits at HRC, this baby is worth every penny we’ve spent and we would do it all over again in a heartbeat. We probably will, too in a few years since we have 5 frozen embryo’s just waiting to be implanted. So, I’m sure this won’t be goodbye, it will just be a see you later!
I’ll post another blog tomorrow on how the appointment goes.
